Skiing up in Garnet Canyon today, and a scheduled rest day to follow…before the rando race here in Jackson on Saturday.
Here we go again! Still in the Tetons is the only clue I can really give I guess. I’ve been pretty impressed with your ability to name them in the past, so what do you think this time? I’ll be back this afternoon to moderate any new comments. Good luck!
Does this help?
It’s got to be something on the North Face of either the South or Middle.
I am not sure but i have a feeling that it is the famous Corbett’s couloir. It must be the ganrliest couloir in your home range, so I am banking on it being Corbett’s.
What do I win if I am right?
greg
Hope you brought your snowshoes
Greg,
It’s not Corbett’s, but thanks for playing. BTW, Corbett’s is definitely NOT the gnarliest couloir in the Teton Range…not even close! You should check it out some time!
Mike…not too bad up to the Meadows…tis the season for all kinds up there though.
Atomic 10ex…why do you say that?
Here’s a shot in the dark:
I don’t know the name of it, but it looks like it could be that couloir adjacent to the Middle Teton Glacier. Then again, I wouldn’t think it would get that much sun. I also thought maybe it would be narrower. I don’t have any other wild guesses though, and I’m stuck at school with no guidebooks to consult.
p.s. When I say adjacent, I mean directly to the East (downcanyon); not the Pinocchio
Yo rando
Us old schoolers would call that one Shay’s Coulior … done it like 2o times, fakey.. aired out at the bottom switch.
I think it’s actually ‘Shea’s’…right?
Nice work Gribes…even though ED really got it first. Can’t believe you don’t know the name of that one Ed!! 😉
Well, I knew Steve Shea fell down it once, I believe when filming “Fall Line.” But I’ve always known the couloir as “that cool looking one near the Middle I’d like to ski someday.”
Shadows in the chute suggest it’s North facing. If you look at the slope in the background it is sloping downward to the right(East Facing). There aren’t too many areas you see that kind of vertical relief without trees in the background. I suppose it could be off of Buck. I would have guessed Hourglass, but it looks wider than that.
Bubble Fun on Buck
Shea’s Couloir is also known as Koch’s Couloir.
Thanks for playing! 😀
