The Zzerctor 3.
Now don’t get me wrong. I love my Dynafit “Green Machines” (Zzero 4 CF) for their amazing balance of lightweight and stiffness, and I’m growing to really like my Black Diamond Factors for their unbelievable skiing performance and great walk-mode…and as a (former?) competitive rando racer and backcountry skier who doesn’t mind hiking for miles on dry trails in his AT boots…I see the benefit of having flexible bellows at the toe. So, in a day and age when we can make cars run on bacon fat, wouldn’t it be great to have all of these benefits in one package? Stiff and powerful, but also very lightweight and with a walk-mode with a big range of motion…and some bellows to make those long walks a bit more bearable. I call it the Zzerctor 3.
Do you dream about it too?!
I just picked up a pair of Garmont Radiums last night. It’s amazing the options we have today vs. just a few years ago when it was the Denali TT, the Megaride, or nothing. The walk mode on these overlap boots are awesome! Anyway, I noticed the Scarpa NTN tele boot has dynafit fittings, and it looks like we’re not too far off from your dream boot. They don’t look too light, but have all the other things you’re looking for. Judging from the paramarking I’ve seen done on them, I bet they AT ski pretty well!
My only question is how long in photoshot did it take you to make this? 🙂
Yes, it would be great if Dynafit made a bellows boot. (but then you’d have to put a shim on your ski….
Yes…the amount of boot options out there is AMAZING and great for the consumer. The TXPro is sorta getting close to the dream AT boot. I think if they got ride of the need for it to make a good telemark turn…they could lighten it up and make some changes in shell design to make the walk mode much better.
THE ultimate boot! got my megawatt and manaslu 187 today, will try them tomorrow.. keep up the good work! and freakin come over in january i’m free all month for now!
Haven’t used my Megawatts yet. Waiting on binders AND more snow. Keeping my fingers crossed for January Gilles!
i need some new boots and i choose my boots by their color and how it matches my latest ski outfit and i like the green and orange of these so i guess i have found my new freeride ski mountaineering boot so now i can attempt to join chris davenport in his new sport of freeride ski mountaineering though my beer gut might currently or atleast this winter make that not so feasible.
Sounds like the PNW is getting to you Bissell.
Looks like you are running into the same issue telemarking has had for years, but possibly a lesser degree. How to make a flexible system stiff. No matter how stiff the cuff is, the weak point is the bellows. Maybe they can come up with a lockable bellows. I love my f3,s and for what I do it is all I need, but you guys that like to hammer I guess maybe there is a market out there.
i dont suppose browse n buy would have my size?
I agree, but also with sooperdooper heaters so you can use them to make waffles.
Nice combo. I like the bellows for the skiing that I do. And my wife just picked up some Zzeros. Not so sure about the Factors. They seem like they have good performance and the walk mode sure is smooth but when I tried them on they seemed to lack walk mode movement backwards, like the system stopped about 1/2 inch earlier then it needed too. What have you found?
Regarding the bellow.
Head have boots with bellows that locks by the pressure of the binding, when skiing

And Atomic Hawx boots have very stiff that are designed to flex when skiing, but just a few mm.
I think the future are somwhere in the middle. A bit of flex when skiing, and allot of flex when walking.
Merge that, and the Factor’s touring mechanism, and a Vibram sole, into a FullTilt boot with square toebox, and my dream boots are borne.
Thank you in advance 🙂
