Not quite the Otterbody, but here’s a little vidy from skiing the North Couloir of Eagles Rest Peak in the Northern Tetons. Randokitty and I camped out for a couple nights last weekend and did some skiing in Waterfalls Canyon. More from the trip later!
Steve – that music is hilarious. Nice video.
On an unrelated note, finally making the switch from FFR+ to Dynafits. Got some Verticals and putting them on 180 Verdicts w/ Radiums. I have been skiing Megawatts and Gotamas (both with FFR+) to date.
When I got the Verdicts out of the box, I was blown away by the amount of camber on these guys! I guess I am jaded skiing the Megawatts (zero camber) and Goats (which I have decambered essentially over the past year or so). Hopefully back on cambered skis doesn’t throw me for a loop!
I was suprised an AT/tele-marketed ski had this much camber. Have you felt that the Verdicts’ camber took away from soft snow performance? After use, have your Verdicts de-cambered somewhat?
Thanks.
The BD skis are for marketed as ‘freeride’ skis…more than just at/tele. The Verdicts will soften a little…but not a lot. I have liked my 180s so far as a compliment to Megawatts for bigger peaks. They will force you ski a bit more aggressively…but if you’ve been pushing around 188 Megawatts all season…180 Verdicts will feel like toothpicks.
To some extent, I think rocker/reverse cambered skis teach bad skiing technique habits. Not a bit deal when the snow is soft, but when your on harder snow…the bad habits shine through when your back on cambered skis.
Thanks Steve. Yes – I agree the Verdicts are going to be toothpicks after the Megawatts. It is hard to not ski the Megawatts though – they are so awesome in virtually most conditions.
I am super pumped to get on a light setup with Dynafits, though.
You will love them. Dynafits ski great and are unmatched for lightness and durability.
The music makes that vid, very dramatic! Looks beautiful, that shot with the moon. Wow!
Thanks!
That’s frameworthy
