Scott Fennell skins above the Centennial Hut.
Just back from Aspiring. Pretty good adventure, but no summit. There is a trip report from the Centennial Hut with some great photos by Scott Fennell posted over on the Black Diamond Journal. Sunset over the Franz Josef Glacier.
Love the South Island! Steve, sometime could you outline your glacier reescue tools kit? Thanks.
Wow – awesome pictures over on the BD site.
Its dumping!!!
thanks…i’ll tell scott you like them.
jim…i’m still refining it and know i can lighten the load, but i use skinny cords for prussiks (4-5mm/2 short and 2 long) since i like skinnier (8mmish) ropes. i carry one pulley, a tibloc, an ice screw, and a cordelette, and a 2′ sharpened snow picket. i also carry purcell prussiks, one long for feet loops and one short for the harness.
second report…here.
