I'm not sure where I'm gonna ski on this kinda wet, high avy danger day (I don't mind a little January thaw, if it means shoring up the winter snowpack), but I know watching Touching the Void will at least kill a couple hours and keep me entertained. This tale is one of the most controversial events and survival stories in mountaineering. I remember being so moved by this movie (and the book) that I saw it twice in the theater. Enjoy.
One of the best films.
I got a kick out out of a new route on Siula Grande a few years back called Avoiding the Touch.
why is it new climbing routes often have damn good names…..?
but yeah back to topic…a great book…a one day read for sure.
I didn’t know there was a movie about this story. I read the book when it first came out. It is a unbelievable story. I certainly don’t see the controversy, I would done exactly what Simon did.
I am a armchair mountaineer,HA HA. After years of not following what has been going on in the climbing world I have started to read about it again. The AT skiing is very interesting to me. Sounds like quite a boom. Great sight.
so gripping….both of the climbers thought the other was dead at some point in the ordeal. unbelievable achievement of human will.
