A week ago today.
Love the vid…what’s up with the Sex and the City soundtrack?
ha! never seen the show, so i don’t know.
that slab took off pretty quick. other than that conditions seem great. how does this year compare to previous years steve. anecdotally speaking. do the tetons ever get the non-summer summer. ever any years where the snowpack stays pretty much intact throughout the summer? last year i remember geting quite a bit on snow on the grand on aug 12. thats only like 60 days from now! just curious how jackson locals are looking at the setup.
j.s…funny, reeders call those “accelerator slides”. I think a good indication of steeper terrain.
we were also taking about the very same thing regarding the snowpack not melting. I’ve heard about it happening before, maybe in 92? it never really got warm that summer and it seems to be trending in the same direction this year. you won’t see me complaining…i hate the heat! 🙂
Last years snow in August & September burned off pretty quickly. It will be interesting to see how long the boot pack to the Lower Saddle gets used. Exum MTN Guides is pushing people towards Colorado: “It’s still a bit snowy in the Tetons however the weather is wonderful and conditions are great in Boulder, Colorado.”
FYI: The JLC Rangers put out the first post of the new year on June, 18th, and are warning about conditions on Buck and elsewhere. http://www.jennylakerangers.org/ OR http://www.tetonclimbingroutes.blogspot.com/
