30ish feet per year
50 feet a year?
22 Feet per year
If it’s melting faster than the effect of gravity, maybe it’s moving UPHILL!
ha! good point. guess i’d need to make a new graphic for that one! 🙂
I think Mikes got it. The website for GTNP states @ 30 ft/yr. B/c I have ocd I did a journal search for the Teton Glacier and found a paper from 1967 through the Geological Society of America and the investigator found it to be 8.5 m/yr or 27.88 ft/yr. Now think climate change, increased basal flows and 30 would work.
i dont know the answer to that but i do know i skied the ice cliff, it was steep, firm, intriguing, intense and beautiful and i will never forget it!
yeah bissell…heard about that one, would be cool to see some pics. kinda a “upon this rock” type of thing.
btw…its about 30 feet. nice mike!
hey i didnt take any pics, it had too much my full attention, wade mckoy does though, myself, chris figenshau and mason cassidy had tried to do the grandstand that morning but to avail. after i aired out small at the bottom, i lost a ski, and ofcourse didnt have brakes on my fritschis and watched it slide away… i thought gone forever, looking forward to a long long mushy hike out of there, fortunately, right at our camp, it hit a rock and stopped like right next to my bivy spot. crazy beautiful trip.
