With all the new snow over the past week here in Jackson and sunny skies over the past few days, it’s been temping to try to ski some bigger lines. But, it seems like there are still some pesky layers out there in the snow pack that could really ruin your day, and not wanting to get complacent, I’ve been powder skiing on some peaks in the northern range the past few days. The snow has been great and skiing through forest burn areas can really be fun!

50 minutes across the lake yesterday…not too bad for this time of year.
skied one of the couloirs off the n.side a couple springs ago. hit the gut and the burn this week.
The first rule about crossing the lake is that you don’t talk about crossing the lake.

Negative Steve, ended up a bit farther south than 10686 on Eagles Rest and due to lots of whumping and a spooky crust/facet/crust combo with new snow on top of turned around really early on in the climb. Not nearly as succesful as your trip(s). Nice time across the lake too, would have made us look like we were standing still.
I have to say the track on looker’s left looks like the most boring line possible down that bowl. Look at all the fun options for drops or slashes, but no, avoid them all and just do the same turn over and over and over and over. Don’t speed up, don’t slow down. Come on man! Skiing can be creative and fun, the mountain is your playground, PLAY!
