Not a whole lot going on in my world this week (except that I got out of jury duty…yay!) and just tip-toeing up and skiing the basics, trying to stay on top of the snowpack. Here is a photo of a poster we have at the shop that gets quite a few comments. It’s a lithograph from Grivel that depicts “How to Ski and How Not To” in the year 1912. These things are really hard to come by and the photos are kind of funny, if you can make them out.

Have to say that’s a very disappointing attitude. If you are so disinterested in your community that you avoid Jury duty despite “having nothing going on” , I hope you won’t be so hypocritical as to vote?
easy there mac…the case was settled the friday before the case.

when i said “nothing going on in my world”, i was mainly referring to skiing. with the big hub-bub around the taylor slide and the increased hazard, i played it really mellow and don’t have any real adventures to share from my weekend.
the reality is that i have a full-time job, and along with maintaining this website, planning logistics for an upcoming trip, filling out gear field-test reports, and there is of course…skiing, to be honest…i kinda do have a lot of other stuff going on. sorry, but i wasn’t really looking forward to sitting inside from 8-5 all week listening to these guys argue about a bar fight. but yeah…i guess one might see that as disappointing.
and yeah diablo…it sure would have been an honor to be on that jury. maybe even put it on my resume? ——>
I have that poster framed in my childhood bedrrom at the parents house….also have a couple more in the same style about ice axe techniques and other climbing struff…
Great poster, everyone can learn how to get some air with these simple steps
