You may remember me experimenting with some video last spring and some of you recommended me getting some sort of helmet cam. Well, I’ve been thinking about investing in one and I saw the perfect setup while I was down at the Outdoor Retailer.
I don’t want to spend a fortune on a high tech video setup and I’m not going to be competing with TGR, so I just need something that is small, light and simple to use. The GoPro camera seems to be the answer to my prayers. It’s only 4.5 oz, has a waterproof case and is only 1.25” X 1.75” X 2.6”. With a 2GB memory card it can take up to about 1hr of video and can be set to take still photo bursts every 5 seconds. The GoPro camera has an optional wide angle lens, helmet, wrist and bike mounts, as well as a quick release flat mount. Whether it’s your bro ripping behind you, the air you’re about to land, or the pow fluffing over your ski tips, you can always get the angle you’re looking for.
I’m psyched about the potential to capture some video skiing the steeps this winter and the best part is that the camera only costs $140, so maybe I can afford to buy more than one!
