I toured up into Garnet Canyon yesterday to try and ski the West Hourglass Couloir on Nez Perce. BUT…as you might guess, with the low snowpack we have so far this year…it isn’t filled in enough yet for a decent without having to negotiate what looked to be two areas of pretty thinly covered rocky terrain. (Still doable though.) Instead, the call was crusty and punchy south facing turns. At least there weren’t any avalanches…but there sure were signs of them.

Nice Bromeo…that wouldn’t be Johnny Walker from the Black Hills now would it? Johnny is a friend that goes back to my college days at BHSU. Good dude, super strong. Is he still working SnowKing? Thanks for the Garnet Canyon update!
jeramie…it might…i’ll mention your name and see if he cringes.
LOL…Not too many Johnny Walkers in Jackson. It is a small world.
Steve, that looks kinda grim. Unfortunately, I’m headed there tomorrow. I’d wait until there is more snow, but that is one of the dangers of going on a bus trip.
still fun skiing to be had…just have to alter the mind-set a little. actually…really looking forward to tomorrow’s tour.
what did you ski up there? thinking of poking around up garnet on the split on saturday…
south sentinel.
J Prine, I’ve been lost in western wyoming for a few seasons now. I’m a retail savage; let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
