His Passion Extends to the Shop
Provided he wasn’t off on a grand ski mountaineering adventure –every fall Steve would transition from managing our Moosely Mountaineering shop in Grand Teton National Park to our store in Jackson– Skinny Skis.
One of the first things on Steve’s mind was Avalanche Awareness Night.
This annual event—in early December– was designed to provide a wide range of information to winter backcountry users—primarily skiers! Beginners and experts alike have enjoyed Avy Night for many years. –Local guide services provide information on their services, avalanche experts speak about a host of topics and manufacturers present their new safety gear…It’s a one-stop-shop for loads of information!
Steve was particularly fond of the benefit raffle. Here he could schmooze with manufacturers and help raise needed funds for a very important cause– the Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center. To top it off the raffle provided an opportunity for Steve to take “center stage”…literally. No one could come close to matching Steve’s enthusiasm during the evening’s raffle!
Steve’s passion for ski mountaineering extended to the shop on a day-to-day basis.
No one could —or can—match his enthusiasm! Customers of all backgrounds and abilities were treated to his wealth of knowledge and, if game, his wit.
A day doesn’t go by that I don’t think about him—each opportunity provides a moment of reflection—and a smile.
